Thermoforming is a process of using different polymers in a machine with sandwich heating, where the preheated polymers are converted into a semi-molten state after using air pressure & vacuum which is then formed into the shape of the mould. The article is immediately cut before release from the mould.
Thermoforming has an in-mould cutting process as the main differentiator from Pressure forming which is a next station cutting process.
Thermoforming uses the top size (diameter or rectangular shape) as the fixed component of every mould & bottom part comes in different inserts giving it the versatility of various sizes & volume options.
Thermoforming has proven to be an economical & faster process in comparison with Injection Moulding as it generally offers the same sturdiness at much lower costs. The recycling properties of most polymers enables further cost reduction.
